SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 37

Commemorating the public service of the Honorable Ernest C. Moore, former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, and requesting the name of the proposed Welch Emergency Hospital Wellness Center in Welch, McDowell County, West Virginia, be named the "Ernest C. Moore Wellness Center".

Whereas, The Honorable Ernest C. Moore was first elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates from the twenty-second delegate district in 1970 where he served until 1976. He was again elected to the House of Delegates in 1980 and served until 1996; and
Whereas, During his tenure as a member of the House of Delegates, the Honorable Ernest C. Moore served in a myriad of legislative capacities. His expertise in the legislative process proved to be an asset to the entire Legislature; and
Whereas, As a legislator, the Honorable Ernest C. Moore worked tirelessly, without regard to race, religion or age, for affordable medical care for the citizens he was sworn to serve; and
Whereas, At the commencement of the second regular session of the seventy-second Legislature, the Honorable Ernest C. Moore decided to retire from public life and return to his beloved McDowell County, leaving behind a legacy of commitment for the efficient, professional and affordable health care for the citizens he served for so long; and
Whereas, It is fitting that a lasting tribute to the commitment of the Honorable Ernest C. Moore be established in the McDowell County he loves and served for so long; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby commends the public service of the Honorable Ernest C. Moore, former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, for his many years of dedicated service to the citizens of McDowell County and the State of West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby requests that the name of the proposed Welch Emergency Hospital Wellness Center in Welch, West Virginia, be named the "Ernest C. Moore Wellness Center", as a lasting tribute to a man who has dedicated his life for the efficient, professional and affordable health care for the citizens he served with such dedication and commitment; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Honorable Ernest C. Moore and the West Virginia Division of Health and Human Resources.
